Yakutsk hosts a song festival of indigenous minorities of the North
An open competition-festival of song art “Echo of Tundra and Taiga” is held in the republic capital in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Association of Indigenous Minorities of the North on December 11 and 12, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports.
The event is held to preserve and promote the study of the Evenk, Even, Yukagir, Dolgan and Chukchi peoples’ languages, and create conditions for creative development.
In the finals, the jury will choose the winners in nine categories. The Grand Prix winner is invited to participate in the All-Russian Festival of National Cultures of Indigenous Minorities of the North and the Far East “Nomad of the North”.
The Association of Indigenous Minorities of the North was established on December 13, 1989 in Yakutsk at the constituent congress of the peoples of the North of the republic.
