Yakutia to create electronic genealogical databases
The republic residents now will be able to know the genealogy at the libraries
Authorities and archival services of the republic will create public electronic databases for the study of genealogy, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to TASS.
According to the head of the Regional Head’s Government Afanasy Vladimirov, the interest among the residents of the republic is quite large.
“The desire to know our own roots, having a sound foundation for future life, promoting the age-old traditions of the peoples, living in Yakutia, is the basis for the development of the republic,” he said.
According to Vladislav Levochkin, First Deputy Minister of Culture and Spiritual Development of the Region, an agreement between the National Archives and the National Library of the Republic on the transfer of metadata of family-based lists of the All-Russian Population Census of 1926-1928 will be signed within the framework of the “Genealogy of Yakutia Peoples” forum.
“These documents will be available in limited access with the possibility of viewing in the premises of the National Library of Yakutia, as well as in virtual reading rooms, opened by municipal and rural libraries,” he said.
