The republic entered the thirty best regions of Russia in terms of business conditions in 2019, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to TASS.
This was announced by Artem Avetisyan, Chairman of the Russian-Korean Business and Investment Council, Director of ASI New Business, at a plenary meeting of the Forum on Northern Economic Cooperation in Seoul.
“We annually compile a national rating of the investment climate in the regions of Russia, and 2019 results showed that the climate Far Eastern districts of Russia grew more than the national average. Nine out of eleven regions of the Far East improved their indicators, and two – Yakutia and the Kamchatka Territory – were included in the thirty best regions of Russia in business conditions,” Avetisyan added.
He also said that trade between the Republic of Korea and the Far East amounted to more than $ 14,5 billion in the first half of 2019.
“Last year, trade between Russia and the Republic of Korea came close to $ 25 billion, an increase is 29%. In the first half of this year, trade between Russia and Korea increased by another 16% compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to more than $ 14,5 billion,” said Artem Avetisyan.
He stressed that Russia has every opportunity to bring trade to the level of $ 30 billion by the 2020anniversary year for diplomatic relations (30 years from the date of their establishment).
According to him, today about 90 Korean companies that have registered at the forum are looking for trading partners in Russia.
“On the part of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, as well as the Russian-Korean Business and Investment Council, we are ready to render all possible assistance to the development of Russian-Korean relations. First of all, to raise the awareness of Korean business about the investment opportunities of the Russian regions and the peculiarities of doing business in Russia,” he said.
