A contest to create images of dinosaurs for computer graphic artists started in the republic on December 2, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to the Republic Culture Ministry.
The contest aims to unite the Yakut and Russian cg-art authors in a search for vivid images, related to the mythologization of dinosaurs and their interpretation in modern visual culture in the form of Yakut dragons.
“The computer graphics contest will be an impetus that inspires authors to create myths and create works that can later become the basis for brand visualization or development of a character for animated films and computer games,” said Vladislav Levochkin, First Deputy Minister of Culture of Yakutia.
The contest participants should depict the dragon, embodying the character of fire spirit Uot Sagata Mogoi (Fire’s Neck Dragon) from of the Yakut heroic epics Olonkho.
The works of participants, who will have passed the final selection, will be formed into a multimedia exhibition and presented at various scientific and cultural venues in St. Petersburg and Yakutsk in May 2020.
Applications will be accepted from December 2, 2019 to April 2, 2020 on the website of the Ministry of Culture and Spiritual Development of Yakutia.
The competition was organized by the Republic Culture Ministry and the historical park “Russia – My History” as part of the international research “Permafrost Dinosaurs 2020” with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund contest.
