Republic Minister for the Development of Arctic and the Issues of Northern Peoples Vladimir Chernogradsky said that the seaport in Tiksi will become one of the main links of the Northern Sea Route, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to the Regional Arctic Ministry.
The head of the republic department emphasized that fisheries and northern domestic reindeer husbandry are actively developing in the Bulunsky region thanks to the state support. In the future, the Tiksi seaport development will allow transporting Yakut fish and meat products to domestic and foreign markets.
“The large-scale development of the Northern Sea Route will positively affect not only the industrial development of the Arctic, but will also help Yakutia enter foreign markets. This could be achieved, among others, by exporting products of the northern traditional trades. Therefore, I believe that the prospects of the Northern Sea Route, as of the Russian Arctic zone’s socio-economic development flagship, are undeniable, and the seaport of Tiksi in the Bulunsky region will become one of its key links,” said Vladimir Chernogradsky.
Earlier, we reported that the head of the republic would hold a meeting “On the main directions of socio-economic development of the Bulunsky district until 2030” in Tiksi village today, on December 3.
