Program counting Arctic polar bears to be launched

Yakutia 24 TV channel: The preparatory phase of the polar bear counting program in the Arctic will be launched in 2020.
The four-year program will allow to fully assess the population and distribution area of these animals for the first time in Russia. In 2020, methodologies and tools for conducting research will be developed and approved.
2021 will record the Chukotka-Alaska population, 2022 – the Laptev population, 2023 – the Kara-Barents Sea population. In 2024, the received data will be processed.
