‘NGDU East Siberia’ paid 22,5 million rubles for oil spill in Mirny region
Yakutia 24 TV channel with the reference to the Federal Service for Natural Resources Supervision (Rosprirodnadzor): “NGDU East Siberia” company voluntarily paid 22,5 million rubles for damage caused to soils as a result of an oil spill from an oil pipeline in the Mirny region of Yakutia.
As reported, the spill of oil products took place at the LLC “Irelyakhskoye” oil pipeline (owned by “NGDU East Siberia” LLC) in Mirny ulus. It was discovered on June 7 this year. The size of the spill was 300 meters long and 50 meters wide.
“We calculated the damage caused to soils by means of sampling (..), the damage amounted to 22,5 million rubles. A letter of claim for compensation for harm was sent to “NGDU East Siberia” LLC. To date, East Siberia has voluntarily paid damages in amount of 22,5 million rubles. The entire amount went to the budget of Mirny,” the department said.
Rosprirodnadzor added that since November 5, they plan an unscheduled inspection of “NGDU East Siberia” to fulfill the previously issued order to eliminate violations of the law in the field of environmental protection.
