Jewelry diamond found in Yakutia been named after Hero of the Soviet Union
The republic and ALRISA Diamond Company implement a new campaign in 100th anniversary of Yakutia statehood
Yakutia 24 TV channel: A large jewelry diamond, mined at the Yubileinaya pipe deposit in the Mirny district of the republic, received the name of Maxim Zhadeikin.
Maxim Zhadeikin, a native of the Dubensky district of Mordovia, worked at the Aldan gold mines before the war. He was called on to the army in 1941. The sergeant distinguished himself in the battles to retain and expand the bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnieper in the vicinity of Grigorovka, Kiev region.
He was titled the Hero of the Soviet Union on January 10, 1944 and the Order of Lenin. Maxim Zhadeikin died in battle on January 19, 1944.
The republic is implementing a joint project “100 registered diamonds for the 100th anniversary of the statehood of Yakutia” at the initiative of head of the region Aisen Nikolaev, and the leadership of ALROSA. In 2020, the large diamonds mined by ALROSA in the republic are given the names of Heroes of the Soviet Union, called up to the front of the Great Patriotic War from Yakutia.
