The workers made jewelry products worth more than $ 1 million in two months on the basis of the jewelry and lapidary cluster in the “Kangalas IP” PDA, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to the Russian Ministry of Eastern Development.
The cluster in the Kangalas microdistrict in Yakutsk is located in a two-story building with 1450 square meters of workshops. It employs four companies that are engaged in cutting and production.
“There are 10 jewelers and cutters. For two months of work, they processed 511 carats of rough diamonds and produced 279 carats of diamonds. The cost of jewelry is about $ 1 million – these are exclusive premium-class jewelry,” the official statement says.
The construction of the cluster began in May 2018, the first residents entered the building in the fall of 2019. Jobs and equipment are provided to small and medium-sized businesses, as well as to jewelers – individual entrepreneurs.
The number of companies, working in the jewelry and lapidary cluster can grow from four to 10, and the number of jobs – from 10 to 100.
“By 2021, we must increase the total number of companies participating in the cluster to 20. Our task is to create 253 jobs by the beginning of 2022, 124 of which in the diamond-cutting direction and 129 in jewelry. We will also have technical staff,” the PDA representatives said.
According to the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East, 177 million rubles have already been invested in the jewelry and lapidary cluster project, 537 million rubles are to be invested in total.
