Temporary import of foreign cars without the Era-Glonass system to the Far East will make the acquisition of foreign cars more affordable and reduce the outflow of the population, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to TASS.
Yury Trutnev, Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, says that the Russian government plans to extend for a year the temporary procedure of import of foreign cars, not equipped with the system, into the Far East.
The cost of installing the system on a used foreign car ranges from 5 to 6 thousand rubles, the state duty for registering equipment is another 2,5 thousand rubles, the cost of the device itself exceeds 20 thousand rubles. A general equipping in the region is 50-60 thousand rubles.
“The pricing scheme itself is not entirely clear, which is quite expected with a single federal operator. At the same time, the average salary of the Far East for 2019 is about 49 thousand rubles. Also, we should take into account the high cost of living in the Far East, which makes it impossible to purchase a “new-old” Japanese car for many FEFD residents”, Trutnev says.
The state-owned automated system “Era-Glonass” provides prompt receipt of information about accidents. The system automatically contacts the operator in case of an accident and also allows the driver to contact support if necessary.
