Yakutia 24 TV channel: Ice drift on the Lena River has reached the capital of the republic today, May 12. During the day, the ice drift has advanced 210 kilometers.
“The lower edge of the ice drift is observed near the city of Yakutsk, the water level is 580 centimeters, and the upper edge is near the village of Sinsk, Khangalassky district, the water level is 57 centimeters. The length of the ice drift is 230 kilometers,” the Emergencies Ministry report says.
According to the forecast, the ice drift will reach the border of the Namsky district in the coming days. On the Amga River, ice flows through the Tatta District. The lower edge of the ice drift there is 1059 centimeters. The length of the ice drift is 112 kilometers. It is noted that the ice drift will reach the estuary of the river on May 13-14.
There is a likelihood of backwater formation with rising water levels on some places.
