Hydrometeorological Center: Abnormal colds will last for several days in Siberia, the Urals and the Far East
The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand said that abnormal colds would last in Siberia, the Urals and the regions of the Far East for several days, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to TASS.
“Truly cold Arctic air invades. In addition, the so-called East Siberian anticyclone has established ahead of time,” says Roman Wilfand.
According to him, the negative anomalies are due to the fact that the pressure is very high near the surface and very low at an altitude of five kilometers, which leads to the so-called dynamic factor and strong cold in the lower troposphere.
“We observe this on Russia’s large territory. The situation is most alarming in Siberia: in the densely populated areas of Omsk, Tomsk, Novosibirsk and Kemerovo regions the deviation from the norm will be 10-17 degrees, and the absolute values to be 28-37 degrees below zero. Moreover, this anomaly will last for a long time, four to five days according to our forecast,” he said.
Roman Vilfand also says that the south of Yakutia, Transbaikalia, Buryatia, Khabarovsk Territory and the Jewish Autonomous Region show 7-11 degrees deviation from the norm, with temperatures ranging from 32 to 45 degrees below zero.
