Today Yakuts celebrate Day of Republic
Yakutia 24 TV channel: Head of the region Aisen Nikolaev congratulates the Yakutians on the Republic Day.
On April 27, 1922, the Decree on the formation of the Yakut ASSR as part of Soviet Russia was signed. It was on this day that Yakutia got statehood.
“We got strong foundations laid for economic development, large-scale industrial growth of vast territories, strengthening unique agriculture in permafrost, and a tremendous increase in the quality of life,” he says. Aisen notes that the current stage of development of the northern region began 70 years later, in 1992, when the Constitution of the Republic entered into force, which determined the status of Yakutia as a subject of the Russian Federation.
“The past years saw a big leap forward has been made that allowed our republic to become a strategically important region not only for the Far East, but for the entire Russian Federation,” the head of Yakutia emphasizes.
Aisen Nikolaev also added that the region is currently undergoing a period of trials related to the global pandemic. He called on the Yakutians to unite and maintain fortitude. “People are our main support. Today we are very grateful to see the work of doctors and volunteers, we accept help from entrepreneurs and many responsible citizens who provide support to compatriots. Cohesion and mutual assistance will lead us out of this difficult situation,” he says.
