Head of Yakut village appealed to the authorities about pollution of stream
The head of Sebyan-Kuel village Taisiya Keymetinova met with the vice-president of the Association of Indigenous Peoples of the Republic, Lyubov Khristoforova, to discuss the problem of petroleum products’ spill in the Quarantine stream in the Kobyaysky district, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports.
Sebyan Kuel is a place of the Evens’ compact residence. Local residents took water from the stream that had been polluted.
“Today, in the republic state assembly (Il Tymen), we will again raise the issue of participation of municipal authorities and the local population in matters of permitting the activities of industrial companies, as it was before according to the federal subsoil law,” said the vice president of the Indigenous Peoples’ Association of Yakutia.
Earlier, Yakutia 24 TV channel reported that the analysis of water and soil samples from the Quarantine stream revealed two indicators showing an extremely high level of pollution, and one indicator showing a very high level.
