“A bright yellow gem-quality diamond weighing 17,44 carats has been extracted in mid-February from Zapolyarnaya kimberlite pipe of the Verkhne-Munsky deposit at Udachninsky MPP,” says the company.
A transparent crystal of 18x20x9 mm has a transitional shape. “The ALROSA single sales organization will conduct its detailed analysis and evaluation in the near future. We hope that this deposit will give us other large and interesting discoveries in the future,” says ALROSA Deputy General Director Yevgeny Agureev.
ALROSA Group produces colored diamonds mainly from deposits in the Arkhangelsk Region (Severalmaz) and in the north of Yakutia (Anabar Diamonds). Color stones account for less than 0,1% in total production of ALROSA jewelry diamonds. The most known are the bright yellow Firebird diamond (20,69 carats) and the pink Ghost of a rose (14,83 carats).
