Yakutia 24 TV channel: Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government to reconsider the financing of extinguishing fires after the appeal of the head of the region Aisen Nikolaev.
Aisen Nikolaev drew attention to the imbalance in the distribution of federal funds to extinguish forest fires between regions at a meeting with the President . “On average, 199 rubles per hectare are allocated for these purposes in the Russian Federation, eight rubles are allocated for these purposes in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and 6,9 rubles per hectare for Yakutia. Despite the vast territory and resources available to us, despite the courageous actions of firefighters and the Ministry of Emergencies, there are many forest fires,” the head of Yakutia says. The current funding methodology was adopted in 2006; calculations were based on population density and forest development.
The President of the Russian Federation noted that it is necessary to bring the methodology in line with the real needs of the regions. “It is clear that there are many criteria, but life is moving forward, living conditions are changing. We must proceed from this, and not from what was written in 2006,” Vladimir Putin emphasizes. In addition, the head of Yakutia proposed to provide free meals to firefighters, rescuers and volunteers involved in extinguishing fires.
The implementation of these measures was included in the first paragraph of the instructions – Vladimir Putin instructed to resolve them before June 1, 2020. Until July 1, the Government of the Russian Federation was instructed to adjust the methods for distributing federal subventions in the field of forest relations, the implementation of which was transferred to regional authorities in order to take into account the actual needs of the entities in protecting forests, fire safety measures and extinguishing forest fires, as well as the need for fire fighting equipment and equipment.
