Yakutia 24 TV channel: Architectural hackathon that took place at the republic capital on January 20 – 25, revealed five winners.
In total, 11 architects, three designers and five programmers, who work on the renovation of the Peoples’ Friendship House, took part in the hackathon.
The participants had to create a website concept, an application for smartphones and to develop a conceptual design for the reconstruction of the House of Culture to make it more modern and attractive, so it could promote tourism, education, economy, culture and social relations of Yakutsk.
“The winners were not chosen according to team assessment. First of all, we chose them according to personal qualities – the ability to open up, show their abilities and willingness to work further,” shares chief architect of the republic Irina Alekseeva.
The winners of the architectural hackathon were programmer Mark Grigoryev, graphic designer Irina Lebedeva, architect practitioner Ulyana Grigoryeva, architect student Ivanna Bagynanova and architect practitioner Alexei Nikolaev.
The main task for the guys was to preserve the unique and original Soviet architectural appearance of the building that would also help reduce utility costs. The abbreviation was proposed to change to “HOUSE”.
Participants also proposed to remove the partitions that divide the floors into countless small rooms and halls. Lawns around the building should go to parking zone, and there should appear a green zone inside the courtyard.
The ground floor of the building will become a recreation area with a cafe and a small library. It was proposed to install a multifunctional staircase on the second floor in the middle of the marble hall.
