An ermine knocked out a 110 kV ‘Bolshoy Nimnir’ substation
An ermine put out of action a 110 kV Bolshoi Nimnir substation in the southern part of Yakutia, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to the EnergoNews agency.
The incident occurred on November 1 at 1.08 P.M. local time. Specialists who arrived to the failed substation found the ermine in the main switch compartment. “His (ermine’s) curiosity led to the lap between the circuit breaker tanks and shutdown of the transformer, and, as a result, to the failure of the substation equipment,” the message says.
The restoration of the substation took about three hours. The agency does not report on the ermine’s fate, noting that the animals often try to get into the compartments of the high-voltage switches to warm themselves and make their homes there.
