A satellite tracking system for horses introduced in Yakutia
A satellite tracking system for stallions has been first introduced in the Khangalassky district, the Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to the Republic Agriculture Ministry.
The project was developed by the SB RAS Institute of Biological Problems of Cryolithozone and the CLS French company together with the Republic Agriculture Ministry specifically for monitoring pets.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic Vasily Afanasev stated that today the first step had been taken towards digitalization in the livestock industry: “The first prototypes of collars with the satellite tracking system, designed specifically for us, have been delivered and installed today on stallions of “Berte” farm”.
He also added that using collars, scientists will be able to study the daily activity of horses, to determine the speed of movement, number of kilometers and the places that horses pass a day.
