Yakutia 24 TV channel: “The Ways of Great Deeds” historical and ethnographic automobile expedition, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory, started in the Far East on November 3.
According to the project organizers, the main goals of the upcoming expedition are to perpetuate the memory of the Soviet people feat at the sites of the battles of World War II with imperialist Japan, as well as to study Sakhalin Island, its history and modernity.
The project was supported by the head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev and the governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko. The expedition is implemented as part of the updated Agreement on trade and economic cooperation between Yakutia and the Sakhalin region that was concluded in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk during the first winter international sports games “Children of Asia”.
“The expedition to Sakhalin is a continuation of research, the purpose of which is to consecrate the role of Yakutia in the development of the Far East. Last year, the branch of the Russian Geographical Society, the Permanent Representation of Yakutia in the Far Eastern Federal District and our other partners carried out an expedition to the Khabarovsk Territory and visited villages where the Yakuts originally lived,” said Alexander Gorokhov, Chairman of the Yakutsk Branch of the Russian Geographical Society
Participants in the road expedition will visit the cities of Holms, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Poronaysk, Okha and the settlements of Vanino, Otasu, Smirnykh and Nogliki.
The collected materials will be used to cover the issues of preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of Russia, the release of television shows and films, new albums of the “Ways of Great Deeds” series and to cover the festive events of the 75th anniversary of the Victory.
