Yakuts won medals in Far Eastern biathlon championship
Yakutia 24 TV channel: Yakut biathletes won several medals of the Far East championship among athletes born in 2003-2004, that took place in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
According to the director of Republic Youth School of the Olympic Reserve for Skiing Mikhail Chugunov, 10 Yakut athletes in two age categories fought for victory in the individual and team events – five boys and five girls aged 16-17.
“On the first day of the competition at the individual race, young men ran 15 kilometers, girls – 12 kilometers. The third place among the young men was taken by Alexander Protsuk, among the girls – Regina Petrova. Both athletes are from the Neryungri region,” says Chugunov.
In addition, Yakut biathletes successfully performed in sprint. So, among the youths the race was won by Nikolai Maximov, the second place was taken by Alexander Protsuk.
Prizewinners will take part in the final, to be held in March in Krasnoyarsk.
