Yakutia observes decrease of population mortality from cardiovascular diseases
The mortality rate of the republic population from cardiovascular diseases decreased by 6,6% for the first nine months of 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to the Regional Head’s Administration.
The republic’s population mortality rate from diseases of the circulatory system is almost 40% lower than in other Russian regions.
“That is, Russia shall achieve this figure by 2024, and we are already at this stage today. This is a great merit of our doctors,” said the Minister of Health of Yakutia Elena Borisova.
She recalled that in early November 2019, the Yakut surgeons had performed operations on patients with atrial fibrillation – by a cryoablation method, based on reaction of extreme cold with freezing of individual myocardial cells that cause heart rhythm disturbance.
“Our cardiologists are great masters. The world leading clinics perform such operations, not even Russia does it. Now we, in the republic, can help our patients with severe cases of cardiac arrhythmias. Only federal clinics used to perform it, today we have such an opportunity in Yakutia,” Borisova said.
