Yakutia is in the top three most reading regions of Russia
Yakutia 24 TV channel with the reference to the Regional National Library Press Service: The republic became one of the three leaders of the country in the All-Russian contest “The Most Reading Region” in 2019.
“I congratulate you on this deservedly high appreciation of the activities and success, achieved in developing literary life, increasing accessibility and supporting reading in the Sakha Republic (Yakutia)!” – the words from the welcome letter of the Russian Book Union President, chairman of the contest jury Sergey Stepashin to Head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev.
It is noted that the National Library of Yakutia filed an application for participation in this competition on behalf of the Head of the republic in August 2019.
A key project of application was the Republic network campaign “The Power of the Book.” More than five thousand residents of the republic took part in this campaign, including representatives of the state and legislative authorities of the region.
When calculating the scores, the jury considered legislative support of reading, the reading infrastructure in the region, reading festivals, as well as the library services general coverage.
