Yakutia intends to create a modern MSW management system
Municipal solid waste handling system soon to be created throughout the republic
Yakutia 24 TV channel: Head of the republic Aisen Nikolaev instructed to create a modern system for handling municipal solid waste within the framework of the Ecology national project at a government meeting about the environmental issues.
The meeting examined the sanitary and environmental conditions of three large cities – Mirny, Neryungri and Yakutsk.
“Currently, no industry has yet been created in any of our cities that meets modern approaches to MSW management. In the near future we should create this system, not only in large cities, but also in other settlements of the republic,” Aisen said.
In this regard, Denis Belozerov, the supervising deputy prime minister of Yakutia government, was given the task, together with municipalities, to solve the problem of creating landfills and to bring the work of MSW management to a level that meets the requirements of the population. The Ecology national project was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin in May 2018.
