Two sides signed an agreement on transfer of bisons and discussed some projects
Deputy Chairman of the Republic Government Kirill Bychkov discussed joint cooperation at a meeting with the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to the Regional Head’s Government.
The meeting took place as part of the business mission of Yakutia to Canada to exchange experience in the field of innovative, construction and transport technologies, conduct a presentation of the investment and export potential of the republic at the CERBA conference “Canada’s Construction and Infrastructure: Experience, Partnership, Innovation”, as well as sign an agreement about a bison transfer.
Kirill Bychkov invited the Canadian regions to join the projects and events of the Northern Forum, and also to consider the possibility of cooperation within the framework of the Russian-Canadian dialogue on the preservation and development of the original way of life, culture and traditions of the indigenous peoples of the North. In particular, to join the project “Digitalization of the linguistic and cultural heritage of the Arctic peoples”.
This project is planned to be implemented on the basis of the UNESCO Chair at NEFU “Preservation and Development of Languages and Culture of Indigenous Minorities of the North on Digital Media and in Cyberspace” that has worked since 2011.
In turn, the Canadian side noted the successful adaptation of forest bison to the central Yakutia conditions.
