The VI Yakutsk International Film Festival been canceled
Yakutia 24 TV channel: Yakutia authorities decided to cancel Film Festival due to the threat of the coronavirus spread.
The juries evaluation of the films will pass remotely. The results will be published on the official website of the film festival within two weeks. Prizes in the form of snow glasses will be sent to all winners.
“We expected a lot from this film festival, we wanted to have at least 10 thousand spectators. But, unfortunately, due to the spread of coronavirus in the world and in our country, we canceled all activities in cultural institutions. For the same reason, the film festival will not take place,” says head of the Culture department Yuri Kupriyanov. He said that later it is planned to organize shows of all competitive films in Yakut cinemas.
The VI International Film Festival was to be held in the capital of the republic from March 18 to 22. Over 900 applications from 40 countries have been received to participate in the main competition and the documentary film competition.
