The social dining room of the capital of the republic was left without funding – the funds, received in January 2019 under the “People’s Budget” grant, ended, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports.
Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 12.00 to 16.00 Yakut time, poor families with many children, single pensioners, people with disabilities, as well as citizens, affected by natural disasters come to this cafe. According to the cafe workers, about 50 people visit the dining room on weekdays, and at times more.
The project manager, entrepreneur Irina Guzova, opened a dining room in August 2017 on a voluntary basis. During this time, nearly 20 thousand people received full free hot meals.
Lists of those, who need hot meals, is provided by the city councils. Those in need can dine in the social dining room for three months. Once a quarter, visitor lists are updated. In addition, Irina Guzova herself participates in cooking dinners and personally communicates with the visitors.
In early 2019, the entrepreneur received a grant in the amount of 2,27 million rubles at the “People’s Budget” contest. Thanks to financial support, the canteen had worked for 10 months.
“I would like the dining room to work every day. It all comes down to financing, very hard. The city really needs this service,” says Irina Guzova.
Meanwhile, the city hall of Yakutsk is conducting an audit of the costs, associated with obtaining a grant from the national budget.
