Reindeer herders’ dynasty awarded by grant of Yakutia’s Head
Yakutia 24 TV channel: Head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev signed a decree on awarding a grant to the Gromovs family of reindeer herders of Moma region.
The head of the dynasty is herder-mentor Valery Gromov. He’s been working in herding since 1965, he started in his fathers’s brigade after finishing 8 grades. In 1970 ge replaced his father on a post.
Gromov is a multiple winner of socialist contests, he always met the USSR five-year production plans. He has been awarded a medal for “Labor Excellence”, a Strike Worker medals for IX, X, XI five-years, is an Outstanding worker of Yakutia agriculture. He has been a mentor in reindeer herds at packs. Valery is a father of four children – three sons and a daughter, he has 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Children and grandchildren work in reindeer herding.
The Gromovs made up a nomadic kinship community of northern indigenous minorities named after Hudi-Haruchi N.V. with a purpose to preserve the ancestors’ customs and practice. Now the community has more than 1,7 thousand reindeer. The preservation of livestock is 94,7%.
The grant of Yakutia Head to a family dynasty of reindeer herders is awarded to provide state support to the business, to increase the occupation’s prestige, preserve the continuity of generations and stimulate development of the gerders’ family dynasties.
