Newborns in Yakutia are often called the Yakut names Aisen and Dayaana
Newborns in the republic are often called national names, and it becomes more popular to give middle names to children in accordance with the Yakut national customs, as registry office under the regional government told Yakutia 24 TV channel.
The department told that 10,7 thousand babies have been born for 10 months of 2019.
“The most popular names among them were Aisen, Aytal, Ayastan, Kharyshal and Dyulustan for boys. Dayaana, Sardana, as well as Kereli and Kereli-kuo for girls,” told the head of the department Tamara Krivoshapkina.
She also added that giving a middle name to a child in accordance with the Yakut national customs has gained popularity.
“So, 45 newborn boys were registered with the word “uola” (a son of) as a middle name, and 18 girls with “kyyha” (a daughter of),” said Tamara Krivoshapkina.
