Head of Yakutia denies speculation on the republic financing the Lena Bridge construction
Yakutia 24 TV channel: Head of the republic Aisen Nikolaev clarified the financing issues of the bridge across the Lena River construction. “There is a lot of speculation that the funding will be entirely from the republican budget. I want to clarify this point. More than 70% will be financed from the federal treasury, and only about 10% from the republic budget. The remainder is private investment,” he said.
The head of Yakutia emphasized that in 2019, the bridge construction project was supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin, so the facility will be erected without fail. “The project itself is very complex, given our climatic conditions with temperature differences of 100 degrees. Probably, bridges of such a scale have not yet been built ,” he says.
In addition, it is planned to build bridges on the Vilyui River in Verkhnevilyuysk and on the Aldan River in Khandyga. “After the introduction of these three bridges, we will get a connecting thread from Mirny to Magadan. Then all of Yakutia will be provided with year-round ground communications,” said the head of the region.
