The construction of the road bridge across the Lena River will provide year-round transport links from Magadan to Irkutsk, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to TASS.
The head of the republic told this to the agency on Tuesday, November 26.
“The Lena Bridge construction is a big step towards the construction of the Northern latitudinal highway from Magadan to Irkutsk. It will be one of its components,” said Aisen Nikolaev.
As instructed by President of Russia, Yakutia and Magadan region authorities must provide proposals for the creation of a stable automobile communication between the Magadan region and the Baikal-Amur Railway.
“Now, the RF Transport Ministry and Rosavtodor are to make a decision on design estimates for bridges across the Aldan and Vilyui rivers in order to provide year-round automobile traffic from Mirny in Yakutia to Magadan, and from Mirny to Irkutsk. This will allow to get from Irkutsk to Magadan directly by road, and not along the southern border, for the first time in history,” added the head of the republic.
According to preliminary estimates, the Lena Bridge construction may amount to 83 billion rubles. The project will create a transport and logistics hub to connect several federal routes: railway, river and aviation, as well as federal roads – Vilyui, Lena and Kolyma.
Earlier, we reported that the project of the Lena bridge interested several potential investors at once.
