Convicts sewed bed linen worth 1,7 million rubles for medical facilities in Yakutia
Yakutia 24 TV channel: Convicts of Correctional Colony sewed bedclothes, mattresses and towels worth more than 1,7 million rubles for the Zhigansk and Khangalas republic dispensaries.
The correctional facilities purchased sewing machines, overlocks, button and cutting machines in order to modernize the work process and improve working conditions.
“This allows us not only to carry out intra-system orders for sewing uniforms for employees of the penitentiary system and clothing for convicts, but also to sew products for third-party institutions, including republican medical organizations,” says the institution.
Convicts are mainly trained in working specialties in vocational schools operating at the institutions. While working, they repay legal claims and alimony debts, improve their existing professional experience, which contributes to their employment after release from prison.
