A scientific experiment on living in a house under a dome started in Yakutsk. The project engages a married couple, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports with the reference to TASS.
The house under the dome is a joint experiment of scientists from the North-Eastern Federal University and the Sinet group of companies. The dome is a five-ton structure, erected around a one-store house with a garage.
The project initiators expect to receive data on the possibility of using dome structures for various buildings and engineering facilities in severe climatic conditions.
Residents of the house will lead a normal lifestyle, record their observations in a diary and the Internet blog. Scientists, in turn, will monitor the temperature inside the dome, monitor air quality and evaluate the energy-efficient qualities of the building, as well as the soil condition. The specialists are also interested in the psychological and physical condition of the project participants.
According to the NEFU, if the experiment turns successful, they will try to install special domes not only over houses, but also over water bodies, roads, bridges, pipelines. All this will allow to assess the structures’ impact on permafrost and geological processes.
