Yakutia 24 TV channel with the reference to the Company’s Press Service: ALROSA entered the top 10 of the annual ESG-ranking of RAEX-Europe independent rating agency. The ranking evaluates the activities of companies in the field of environmental protection, social responsibility and corporate governance.
In total, this list includes 30 largest Russian business companies, engaged in different sectors. Compliance with the ESG principles means that the company strategy and business uses the best practices in such areas as ecology, social policy and management.
In 2019, ALROSA took the 8th place in the ranking. “As a world leader in diamond mining and a major Russian subsoil user, ALROSA confirms its commitment to sustainable development standards in everything related to the environment, social responsibility and corporate governance,” commented ALROSA CEO Sergey Ivanov.
He also noted that the company intends to continue to actively introduce the latest energy and resource saving technologies, improve corporate governance and invest in human capital and social services in the regions it operates.
When compiling the ESG ranking, RAEX-Europe takes into account such indicators as water use, waste and air emissions, social costs and investments in human capital, accident rate, and the share of independent members on the board of directors.
In 2018, ALROSA assigned almost 11 billion rubles for social investments; the cost of environmental activities exceeded 5 billion rubles.
