Yakutia 24 TV channel: Five skiers have completed the passage from the republic capital to the village of Tiksi in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory yesterday, May 9.
The participants started from Yakutsk on March 14. The length of the entire route exceeded two thousand kilometers. “The path of skiers passed through rocky terrain and taiga through Ust-Aldan, Verkhoyansk, Eveno-Bytantaysky and Bulunsky districts, they were spending the nights in tents without stove heating,” the message says.
During the war years, about 62 thousand residents of Yakutia were called to the front. They took part in the defense of Moscow and Leningrad, in the battles for Stalingrad, on the Kursk Bulge, in the liberation of European countries occupied by German troops, and in the final defeat of fascist Germany.
