Number of republuc centenarians is growing, conditions for their life improving are created
Yakutia 24 TV channel: The number of Yakuts older than 90 years is growing in the republic every year. So, about 1,400 residents crossed the 90-year threshold in 2019.
“The number of centenarians of 90-year-old is growing: in 2010 there were 685 people, in 2017 – 1,013 people and in 2019 – 1,400 people,” says Minister of Labor and Social Development of the Republic Elena Volkova.
She adds that in 2019, nine veterans of the Great Patriotic War received the Honorary Badge of the Long-Liver of Yakutia “Uye Saas” on the 100th anniversary of their birth with a lump-sum cash payment of 100 thousand rubles.
In 2018, there were eight such anniversaries. According to the ministry, the republic implement a number of social programs and projects, aimed at social support of older people.
So, “Elder Generation” project was developed in 2019, which means mobile teams for the elderly. “For this, 23 units of vehicles worth 19,9 million rubles were purchased. The work of mobile teams should increase the availability of medical care and social services for people over 65 living in rural areas,” says the ministry.
“Elder Generation” project also will make it possible that 859 pre-retirement citizens to pass vocational training. Also, the republic regions are now developing a network of Third Age Schools, very popular among older people, and where more than six thousand people have been trained.
