13 adults in the republic have been found measles; the ill were not vaccinated against measles. All of them were hospitalized to Yakutsk medical institutions, Yakutia 24 TV channel reports.
Quarantine has not yet been announced in the republic, because the epidemic threshold has not been exceeded. However, the region has already organized mass immunization of the population to prevent the spread of infection.
“All people, who are sick today, have not been vaccinated against measles. That is, the only preventative measure against this disease is only vaccination,” said Sardaana Fedotova, chief epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health of Yakutia.
Doctors conduct checks in organizations, educational institutions and are examining those who were in contact with sick people.
“We visit them at home addresses and at the place of work or study. All contacts are identified. We vaccinate them in the first 72 hours. People, whose neighbors were sick, have probably felt these activities. Therapists came to them and clarified the vaccination status of the contacts,” explained Lyubov Budatsyrenova, head of the epidemiological surveillance department of the Rospotrebnadzor Office.
